Barry Palmer appeared on
these Triumvirat albums
For the early seventies, Barry's career was highlighted by his #2 U.K.
chart smash "The Bump" as the second of three studio
incarnations of a pop star "Kenny" who had a total of #7 top
tens in the U.K. He began writing his own material after that, and then
answered an ad in "The Melody Maker" placed by a Jürgen Fritz
and Triumvirat looking for a lead vocalist, as Helmut Köllen had
recently quit the band.
Their first song recording together was "Take A Break Today",
which was Capitol's attempt to ride the wave of "Spartacus",
Triumvirat's rock classic. Triumvirat's new lineup began writing and
recording progressive/classical style music again with Barry as their
lead vocalist, and sharing lyricist duties. He performed lead vocals
with Triumvirat on the progressive rock classic albums "Old Love
Dies Hard", "Pompeii", and "Ala Carte".
After Triumvirat fractured in the early eighties, Barry stayed in
Germany recording and touring with groups like "Satin Whale",
and "Gaensehaut". But rock history was again to be made, as he
was introduced in the Swiss Alps to another progressive rock genius,
Mike Oldfield.
Barry sang every other song (alternating with Maggie Reilly) on the 1984
Mike Oldfield "Discovery" CD, redefining himself and his
talents on songs like "Poison Arrows", and "Crime of
Passion", the first song he recorded with Oldfield.
Barry continues to be a very major draw at the Mike Oldfield conventions
in Germany organized by our friends Marcus and Marcel.
"Ghost Of A Love" is the first of several new Barry Palmer
tracks that we will have the honour of previewing for you here on the
Triumvirat Website. This music is STRICTLY for use on your personal
computer and may not otherwise be reproduced in any form. We want to
keep the previews coming, and hope you'll want to pick up the new CD
when it is released.
